Getting to it

Well, the first month of 2013 has flown by.  I am finishing up the Prep Phase of Ironman training and getting into a good routine.  I even have found the YMCA pool again!  I set up the Computrainer in the basement since it has been so cold outside and the shed is freezing.  I love that thing, I am really hoping it helps with my bike this season.  Don't mind the washer and dryer in the background, I have since moved it to the other end of the room, closer to the T.V. and in a perfect spot to set the laptop on a tray.

Here is my son Conor's trainer I built him out of wood.  He was starting to get mad that he could not ride when I did, so I built this in about 30 minutes for him with some extra wood out in the shed, he was pretty happy.

On Friday, Kristina and I went to West Chester University and talked to one of their classes, Adaptive Physical Education with Dr. Monica Lepore.  I had that class back in 1992 or so.  I had contacted Dr. Lepore because she runs a camp in the summer called Camp Abilities.  The board of I Tri 4 Downs had given authority to make a $1,000.00 donation to this camp, so I was there to make a presentation.  I talked to the class for about 15 minutes, then made the check presentation to Dr. Lepore and two of the seniors who work at the camp.

I had my first run of the year on February 2, 2013, the St. Anselm's 5k.  It was a really nice local 5k in my sisters neighborhood, 5 minutes from my house.  My nephew was running, so I told him I would do it.  It was a nice rolling route, with a little trail section.  I finished in 21.36, 15/247, 1st in my age group.  It was cold as hell that day so I was super layered.  I couldn't tell if I was slower because of the clothes or just slow because it was the cold.  Here is me and my nephew Matt after the race back in the gym trying to warm up.
